Responsible Gambling

WBX acknowledges that, while most people participate in gambling activities in a socially enjoyable and harmless manner, gambling can create problems for some individuals. The extent of these problems ranges from occasional over-spending to the development of pathological gambling addictions.

WBX seeks to create a responsible gambling environment and is committed to implementing and maintaining Responsible Gambling legislation and best practice for the benefit of our Members, staff and management.

Our Members can define their betting parameters by setting their own per order or total exposure limits.

All WBX Member Services employees are trained to sensitively and professionally deal with any Member who believes that they have a gambling problem. With comprehensive training to a Gamcare accredited level, WBX staff can direct such Members to the appropriate avenues for further help.

Do You Have a Gambling Problem?

To ensure both enjoyment and safety, WBX encourages Members to manage their gambling expenditure sensibly.

GamCare offers the following questions to help an individual decide if he/she has a gambling problem:

  1. Have others ever criticised your gambling?
  2. Do you borrow money to bet, spend above your budget or use money allocated for other purposes to bet?
  3. Have you ever lied to cover up the amount of money or time you have gambled?
  4. Do arguments, frustrations or disappointments make you want to gamble?
  5. Do you gamble alone for long periods?
  6. Do you stay away from work, college or school to gamble?
  7. Do you gamble to escape from a boring or unhappy life?
  8. Are you reluctant to spend 'gambling money' on anything else?
  9. Have you lost interest in your family, friends or pastimes due to gambling?
  10. After losing, do you feel you must try and win back your losses as soon as possible?
  11. When you are gambling and you run out of money, do you feel lost and in despair, and need to gamble again as soon as possible?
  12. Do you gamble until all your money is gone?
  13. Have you lied, stolen or borrowed just to get money to gamble or to pay gambling debts?
  14. Do you feel depressed or even suicidal because of your gambling?

Getting Assistance

There are many organisations that can provide support and assistance to individuals who develop a problem with gambling.

The following websites offer advice and guidance. Each one has a help-line number and an email address that you may contact if you would like confidential advice and support.

Gamblers Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope, to try and assist others recovering from gambling problems.

In addition, all our Member Services staff have undergone GamCare training and are qualified to offer advice to individuals with gambling problems.

Managing Your Betting

It is not uncommon for Members who enjoy gambling frequently to overspend on their budget occasionally. We advise that specific budget plans be made to ensure your gambling expenditure is affordable.

Sometimes people deny the extent of their own gambling problems and seek help only in crisis. Be honest with yourself and if you think you might have a problem, set yourself the goal of not gambling for two weeks, or a month, as a test. If you are unable to do this, you could have a problem and might benefit from discussing your situation with a counsellor.

To set a limit on your Exposure Limit (Per Order) or your Exposure Limit (Total) click on the My Profile > Account Settings text. Enter your desired Exposure Limit in either field and click the Save button. For no Exposure Limit, the field should be left blank.
