Tuesday Review (21/04/09) Racing expert Dale McKeown gives an overview of the day's top equine action.
Trainer Willy Muir and Martin Dwyer were also touched off in the opener as young David Probert, ridding for Bryn Palling, aboard Pelham Crescent just got the better of the other 4/1JF Mick’s Dancer by less than a length. All was not doom and gloom for Willy and Martin however as under a canny ride the progressive Lyra’s Daemon made all to win the Oakley Green Conservatories Handicap by a measured ¾ L. The red hot Walter Swinburn, who had already bagged a winner early in the afternoon, doubled up with the maiden Champagne Future. Improving with racing, the daughter of Compton Place showed good speed to make all under Ted Durcan to beat the favourite Cawdor comfortably. The lightly raced Supaverdi looks as though she is going to make up for lost time by developing into a decent filly. Overcoming a rough trip the Hughie Morrison-trained 4 yr old, who was only having her third start, squeezed through to produce a performance that left no doubt there was more to come. On an evening that the favourites were hitting the bar it was no surprise when 2/1 jolly Wunder Strike failed to reel in Second To Nun as the front two pulled clear of the field.
