Eddie ‘The Shoe’ Fremantle brings us his exclusive plays of the day.

Cloudy Start looks a fair favourite for the 2.10 at Newbury although there is the possibility that a number one draw may be a disadvantage with the stalls in the centre of the course. Of more interest at a bigger price is Felday, a winner on softish ground here second time out as a two-year-old. He was unable to cut much ice in the Newmarket sales race won by Donativum from Crowded House but finished close to Imposing, who ran well in a handicap yesterday. Felday may not have got the trip on his final outing over a mile at Doncaster but at around 12-1 back over his winning course and distance, he looks worth backing.

Sonny Red has become very well-handicapped as a result of a couple of lacklustre efforts at the backend. There has been money for him this morning in the 2.40 and the Nicholls horses continue in cracking form, Tax Free winning under Franny Norton yesterday. Sonny Red was 'stolen' for just 5,000gns by Nicholls from Richard Hannon at the sales in October and that looks a ridiculous price for a horse on the verge of Group class early last year. His mark was 108 when he finished fourth in the Abernant this time last year but now he features on 97.
