FISTRAL BEACH 12:45 Ascot Back at 2.4 or more

Fistral Beach probably ran into a useful horse in Belcantista when he was a beaten favourite last time at Exeter - but the rest of that field were well strung out behind the front pair and the form looks significantly better than the placed runs from Midnight Sail and Presenting Forever. The longer trip should also see Fistral Beach in a better light and I rate him a solid favourite for this, 5/4 on my tissue. The dark horse is Run For Moor from the Henderson stable that has such a good record at Ascot, but his hurdle debut is coming late in life after a series of problems and I'm happy to take him on.

BUCK THE LEGEND 2:30 Ascot Back at 2.7 or more

I was confident this one would win last weekend at the abandoned Cheltenham meeting and this looks an equally good opportunity. His latest Newbury win was impressive, and his earlier success at Exeter suggests he'll handle this track - in both those races his jumping has been excellent. Deep Purple won at Taunton, but will find these fences a lot tougher and he fell at Wetherby previously, whilst Naiad Du Misselot has yet to win and has never run on right-handed track over fences or hurdles. That leaves Panjo Bere as the danger and he's also looked a fluent jumper round the gaffs, but has to show he can handle the bigger tracks.
