Tuesday Racing Find out what top pro-punter Alan Potts is backing or laying today.
Choral Festival showed a willing attitude when staying on strongly at the end of a 7.5F maiden at Beverley on soft ground - that form looks solid as the race was run in a decent time and the first three were 8L clear of the rest. She should relish the step up to 1M and most offspring of her sire, Pivotal, have no problem handling the fibresand surface. Main market rival Ysing Yi also ran well when second at Kempton, but that race was slowly run and the merit of the form is debatable. DUNCAN 4:20 Goodwood Lay at 2.4 or less (note: now a non-runner) Overnight rain at Goodwood has produced soft ground and that may result in non runners that alter the market here. But the going change also, in my view, increases the chances of an upset - most are untried on soft ground and that includes Duncan, but he hasn't looked a strong finisher in his two races to date and, like his half brother Samuel, may need more time to develop - Samuel didn't win until this year as a 4-y-old and he has been kept away from soft ground since his debut. There are several lightly raced types here that could improve significantly on the surface and I particularly like Inquest, who finished behind Duncan on his debut but showed a lot of promise and is sure to improve.
