Thursday Racing Find out what top pro-punter Alan Potts is backing or laying today.
Dandy Man has used up more excuses than Gordon Brown but everything looks right for him today and he can be dismissed in future if he can't take this opportunity. At Royal Ascot he was once again drawn away from the pace, but finished fourth - this time he looks ideally placed in stall 11, surrounded by potential front runners and right next door to main rival Masta Plasta. There seems to be every chance that the numerous pace setters will be end up beating each other and Dandy Man should be in position to pick them off in the final furlong. There are no question marks about the trip or ground and I have him at 2/1 on my tissue. ASKAR TAU 8:35 Sandown Back at 3.1 or more Askar Tau has produced two improved performances since stepped up to this trip - second to Tasheba at Great Leighs when the pair were twenty lengths clear of the rest of a big field and then a win at Haydock. That success was a remarkable one as he had to overcome a late change of jockey, a bad draw which saw him rousted along early to get a position and a moderate ride which saw him kick for home a long way out - but he still won easily. He's up in the weights now, and up in class, but those two runs suggest he can go a good deal further as a stayer and there's nothing in this field with anything like the same potential.
