Get in front with the exclusive views of handicap expert Van Guard.

In the Thirsk 8.50 Deserted Dane is drawn right where the action is after getting stuck out wide away from the pace on his last two starts. There's no track bias at Thirsk but with the likes of Almaty Express, Cape Royal, Brut and Windjammer all putting pace to the high numbers, that looks the place to be. Alan Swinbank's handicapper has slipped 5lb below his last winning mark and looks ready to strike over a course and distance he has gone well over in the past. Two thirds back in May off higher marks including when leading home the low numbers show his liking for today's venue and with market support flooding in for a shrewd yard i'm a player at 8.0.

Earlier on the Hamilton 5.15 looks a match between last time out winner Maison Deu and Kenmore. Preference is for the latter who looks to be coming to hand for Ian McInnes and is very well handicapped on old form. He has a better draw than Maison Deu and has run well on his last two starts including from a horrid draw at Lingfield. 5.2 is fair enough in a race lacking any real depth.
