Record turnover for WBX on six-month anniversary

On its six-month anniversary, betting exchange start-up WBX said it hit the £58m mark in betting turnover. In the week to May 21, the company saw a turnover of £7.46m, a record week for the company.
The company said it credited its series of 0% commission promotions for its rising level of turnover. WBX regularly offers 0% on winning favourites for terrestrial TV races and has a basic commission level of only 3% on football matches, 2% less than Betfair’s commission rate.
Malcolm Gray, chief executive at WBX, said: “The fact that other firms are now also adopting our 0% commission offers suggests that even if they are not yet worried about WBX, they are at least starting to look over their shoulders.”
